How do I request books and/or other materials from the Library's collections?

Answer

You can request books from the Library's collections by following five easy steps (described below). Please note: Requesting from the library collections on the 3rd & 4th floor, and from other libraries is only available to current SF State students, staff, and faculty. All users with a current SFSU library card may request from the library's collections in the LRS. On your request form, you will need to designate whether you would like to pick the book up in the Library or if you would prefer to have the book mailed to you. For help requesting books from the Library's collections, please email circmail@sfsu.edu.

  1. On the Library's homepage, select the Books & Media link beneath the search box.
  2. Type in a title or keywords to find books in the Library's collections, then click on the "Search" button.
  3. Review the list of books in the search results, and click on the title of the book you would like to request.
  4. Click on the "Sign in for more options" button, and then use your SF State credentials or Library barcode and password to sign in.
  5. Choose "Request from JPL Library" from the request options and fill out the form. Click the "Send Request" button at the bottom to send your request.

You will receive an email notification when your request is ready for pick up. To have your item mailed to you, email circmail@sfsu.edu with your mailing address and the title of items you wish to be mailed after you’ve placed the request.
