Do you loan material from the Historic Collections through inter-library loan?

Answer

No material in the University Archives and Historic Collections circulates outside of the library. However, you can make book requests through inter-library loan at your local library, either a public library or through a university library if you are affiliated with one. Material in the online catalog with the term "library use only" means that the item is too rare or hard to replace for circulating outside of the reading room. During the pandemic we discovered many of the rare books in the collection have been digitized by institutions or staff can access the best way to reproduce material not digitized if that is possible or if the object is not too fragile for reproducing.

For those who are affiliated with SF State, some non-circulating material may be accessed from other libraries via our inter-library loan department (CSU+ and Illiad): https://library.sfsu.edu/interlibrary-loan.
