Does the library have access to news show transcripts?

Answer

Yes, our Global Newsstream database offers transcripts of some news shows. One technique is to find the names of news/commentary shows on the web and then search those titles in the Publications search inside Global Newsstream to see if that show is covered.

Step 1: connect to the SFSU ProQuest Global Newsstream subscription (click Go to Database)
Step 2: click Publications at the top
Step 3: search for an official show title
Step 4: click on show title, if it appears
Step 5: look for the dates menu or use the Search within this publication box

These are some of the shows that are available in transcript (text of the audio) form:
Face the Nation (CBS)
Fox News@Night
NBC Nightly News
PBS Newshour
RFI, Spanish ed.

More ideas:

Many transcripts are free on the web too. Search with phrases in quotation marks. Example:
"into america" podcast transcripts

You can also try the Listen Notes podcast search engine.
